ALL-LEVELS VINYASA YOGA
All Levels Flow Yoga follows it roots from Vinyasa yoga. Energize your body and mind with an active flow incorporating core strength, stretching, and breathing in a dynamic moving sequence and end the class with a guided relaxation. Students are encouraged to move at their own pace as they become internally aware of the body, mind and breath working together. All of our classes offer yogic breathing (pranayamas) and meditation (dhyana) for the full body/mind experience. All levels are welcomed to enjoy the flow.
Similar to Vinyasa Flow, Friday Flow’s combination of continuous movement with breath work leads up to a challenging peak posture and ends with a final relaxing meditation. It is perfect to get that feel good Friday energy flowing and to set the tone for your weekend. Various modifications are offered, allowing each person to practice at their level and ability.
This class is appropriate for new students as well as more advanced students who want gentler movement. It includes basic seated and standing postures with simple transitions up and down off the floor. Technique and hands-on adjustment are offered. Variations on postures accommodate those with limitations or recovering from injuries. This class is a great way get to know your body. It will awaken areas that feel weak or restricted and unwind chronic tension. Gentle attention on breathing allows you to access a sense of peace and calm.
LITTLE LEMON BALM YOGA
Little Lemon Balm Yoga is designed to be an exciting blend of imaginative play and exploration into the world of yoga. During each class a variety of yoga postures will be taught that incorporate balance, flexibility, strength, coordination, and of course FUN! Young yogis work on team building and communication skills during the class and end with guided meditation and relaxation techniques, so everyone leaves feeling refreshed. Ages 5-12.
Each class will work to balance all muscle groups’ strength and flexibility, with an emphasis on challenging the core muscles with each movement. Classes will blend the Classical Pilates Method with exercise variations. Modifications are suggested for beginners or for those with physical limitations. Mat Pilates is a challenging yet safe method to sculpt your body and to feel increased agility in your every day movements. Class is appropriate for all-levels.
Restorative classes are very mellow, making them a good complement to more active practices and an excellent antidote to stress. A restorative yoga sequence typically involves several poses, supported by props that allow you to completely relax and rest. Held for 5 minutes or more, restorative poses include light twists, seated forward folds, and gentle backbends. During the long holds of restorative yoga, your muscles are allowed to relax deeply. It’s a unique feeling because props, rather than your muscles, are used to support your body. Calm and reset your entire body and mind to prepare you for ultimate relaxation in Savasana.
SLOW FLOW YOGA
Slow Flow Yoga, in some ways, has traditional roots. This style usually provides poses that range from gentle to challenging, but done with stable, self-centering energy. The pace of these classes is understandably slower and emphasis is placed on safe alignment and the maintaining balance of the slow breathing. This style can vary tremendously in its speed, with some classes preferring long, silent periods of reflection and static holding during each pose, and others opting for a more fluid experience (with possible frequent bursts of energetic sequencing to raise energy). The toned-down speed of these classes does not, however, mean that the poses are any less beneficial for building strength, stability, and postural integrity than other styles. This slower pace is definitely more conducive to the meditative practices of mindfulness of action and awareness of breathing. This makes it particularly well-suited to newer students, or for those who desire deep concentration within their practice.
VINYASA FLOW YOGA
Vinyasa flow is a great way to assist practitioners in moving from a gentle practice to a more robust asana practice. Various modifications are offered, allowing each person to practice at their level and ability. Vinyasa is also called Flow, in reference to the continuous movement from one posture the next.
Yoga nidra combines a body scan with breath awareness, and adds a visual and sense component. It’s often called yogic sleep, because it induces states of mind that are between being asleep and being awake, resulting in deep relaxation and rejuvenation. Most of the elements and principles of yoga nidra originally come from traditional teachings on yoga, breath awareness, and the koshas, energy layers. I like to bring a focus on witness consciousness, intuition, and creativity. Each stage of this yogic sleep opens doorways to yourself and the energy within, as you move deeper into relaxation.
